Greywater can be sent to to grey water tanks and then pumped back to wherever is required, e.g. toilet flushing. A golden rule of greywater systems is never to store the greywater in water tanks for more than 24 hours – unpleasant micro-organisms may begin to flourish. The video below gets the point of greywater recycling very succinctly.
Waste water from showers, baths and wash-hand basins is called grey-water. With relative ease grey-water can be treated up to 2nd class quality, suitable for flushing toilets with or for irrigation. This can replace a considerable amount of the more expensive 1st class tap water.
