Plastic tanks in agriculture

Farming operations of all types can use plastic or polyethylene tanks for various uses.  Tanks made from other materials are also used but poly tanks offer many advantages such as ease of transport, ease of installation, corrosion & chemical resistance, longevity, low maintenance and affordability.

Plastic water tanks for irrigation

Larger poly water tanks, in the 10000 litre, 15000 litre and 20000 litre tank capacity range, can be used as temporary holding reservoirs for irrigation purposes.  The relative ease of installation and transport makes plastic vertical water tanks ideal for farming operations where the tanks may need to be moved to different fields or orchards.

Plastic chemical tanks for liquid fertiliser

High quality, medium and heavy duty chemical tanks can be used for storing and mixing liquid fertilisers.  Polyethylene has a high resistance to most agricultural fertilisers and chemicals allowing for low maintenance and long service life.

Plastic silo tanks

Polyethylene silo tanks offer many advantages over steel silo tanks and are comparatively less expensive.  Plastic silo tanks can be used for storing animal feeds and products such as molasses as well as some chemicals.

The design of the silo tank also allows for easy access to the contents and a trailer or container can be placed under the cone-shaped outlet for easy transfer.

Plastic horizontal tanks

Horizontal tanks or transporter tanks have many uses of farms.  Horizontal water tanks (standard duty construction) can be used for transporting water for irrigation, fire-fighting and for re-filling livestock water troughs.
Medium and heavy duty plastic horizontal tanks can be used for transporting liquid fertiliser, chemicals for pesticide spraying and for other liquid chemical applications that may be required on a farm.  Horizontal tanks can also be used as mobile fuel tanks – petrol an diesel can be transported from a fuel depot to where it is required on a farm.

Smaller plastic tanks & drums

Smaller plastic tanks and plastic drums have a multitude of uses in a farming operation from storing chemicals, oil, fuel, fertiliser, animal feeds and for containing toxic waste/chemicals for later responsible disposal.

Water tanks in aquaculture

Plastic water tanks are ideal for aquaculture operations with some plastic water tanks purpose-made for fish breeding.  Often polyethylene water tanks are made converted to fish breeding tanks and fish growing tanks by cutting the tops off to create a open water reservoir.
