This information from JoJo Tanks in South Africa explains what greywater is and why it is important to reuse and recycle it. To further save water and help the environment, rain water harvesting tanks should also be considered.
WHAT IS GREYWATER?
Greywater is defined as the “waste” water generated from showers, baths and hand basins in the bathrooms and washing machine water.
If this grey water is used properly by using a grey water treatment system then this water can be recycled and re-used around the home again and again.
Greywater does NOT include water from the toilets, kitchen/ scullery sinks or dishwasher. This water is classified as black water.
