Water is a precious commodity that most of us take for granted.
Waste water, or wasted water, is any water that is used unnecessarily without thought as to why. This water ends up flowing away having been of little or no use.
Water is wasted in many ways:
Wastewater that can be reused is any water from household usage that is not contaminated by effluent. Water from the bath, shower and hand basins can be re-channeled for use in the garden. This can be by means of a simple attachment to the relevant outlets, saving it from going down the drain.
For the braver, by installing a grey water capture system, which then can also be used to nurture nature. Read more about why we should recycle grey water HERE.
We usually waste water because we have never been taught not to. There is really no thought involved. We turn on the tap and there is water. Whether, or when, we switch it off again is of little importance to too many of us.
It is all too easy, until no water comes out of the tap. Then my-oh- my we have a disaster.
One has to wonder if those citizens who have to walk miles to obtain a limited supply of water are as careless.
It has been said that the next major world conflict will be over water. Not gold or oil some other commodity that man perceives to be vital, but water which we squander because it is there.
The world has an ever-increasing human population, who are all reliant on a limited supply of water. Only because we have learned how to purify water are we able to function as a species, as we have polluted almost every other water source available.
When the taps run dry it will be too late to think…. Why?
Yes. We all need to start respecting our life source and act responsibly.
There are many ways to be more thoughtful and efficient… so watch this space for fresh ideas and the latest updates.
