Grahamstown water outages: Water tanks a solution?

Since Sunday, most of the city’s water supply has been cut off because of a broken water pipe.

However, many Grahamstown residents have been struggling with service delivery for years.

In February, almost 40 000 Joza residents went without water for two days. The municipality found a temporary solution in the use of water tanks. These are placed outside various houses and refilled by fire trucks.

Although the water tanks have been welcomed by some residents, others feel that they are simply putting off a more permanent solution to the frequent water cuts. Is it enough, or is it too little, too late?
