4 Educational Environment Seminars You Don’t Want to Miss in 2014

Although the seminars outlined below are not in South Africa, these days, many seminars can be watched live, online. South Africa has many environmental issues that need urgent attention, one of them being water. Rainwater harvesting tanks and other water conservation  measures are tools that will help alleviate the country’s water crisis.

March 31 – Atlanta, Ga.

One of the keynote speakers at 2014’s Park Pride 13th Annual Parks and Greenspace Conference at the Atlanta Botanical Garden will be Brad Lancaster. Lancaster’s presentation, Rainwater Harvesting for Drylands and Beyond, will address building parks and greenspaces by leveraging rainwater runoff.

Rainwater harvesting and storage conserves the world’s most precious and dwindling natural resource. Only a tiny fraction of water is drinkable freshwater, and the overwhelming majority of that is trapped as ice at the poles. With Earth’s population nearing 7 billion, new methods are absolutely necessary.

April 7-10 – St. Petersburg, Fla.

The National Association of Environmental Professionals 2014 Annual Conference addresses coastal landscape visualization as well as the interrelation between listed species and invasive species. A wide range of vendors, exhibits, and sponsors will be at the expo with displays and speeches that are geared toward the association’s theme: Changing Tides and Shifting Sands. Three keynote speakers will highlight the event.

May 14-16 – Ancona, Italy

If business or pleasure finds you in Europe in 2014, the 2nd International Conference on Environmental and Economic Impact on Sustainable Development is a must-visit. The conference, brought to you by the Wessex Institute of Technology, “will examine issues related to whether some forms of development are compatible with environmental protection, particularly in cases of possible serious contamination and toxicity.”

May 6-7 – Austin, Texas

Widely considered to be one of the top conferences of its kind in the U.S., the 2014 Environmental Trade Fair and Conference “is Texas’s premier environmental educational forum featuring topics such as the drought crisis, oil and gas, air quality, waste management, and many more.” The topics of recycling, cleanups, preventing pollution, and more will also be covered.
