Polyethylene animal drinking troughs make sense

Poly or plastic drinking and feeding troughs are a great alternative to steel, concrete and fibreglass troughs for the following reasons:

• Poly troughs do not rust, corrode or flake fibres and other particles so are therefore a healthier choice for livestock
• Polyethylene troughs are generally less expensive than troughs made from other materials
• Regular cleaning is important for the health of livestock – plastic drinking troughs can be thoroughly cleaned due to the smooth surfaces (rough surfaces in troughs made from other materials are prone to a build-up of algae and possibly other micro-organisms)
• The light weight of poly troughs makes them easy to transport and install – once they are ket full with water, the weight is sufficient to reduce the chance of livestock moving or upturning the troughs
• Good quality polyethylene troughs such as those made by JoJo Tanks, are robust and have UV protection, making them ideal for years of service in our harsh African climate
