Need Mega Water or Liquid Chemical Storage? Get a 20000 litre Poly Tank!

Sometimes a single large tank is a better solution to buying a few smaller tanks and connecting them in series; a 20000 litre tank is possibly the answer.

The obvious requirement for large polyethylene water tanks in the 15000 litre to 20000 litre range is that sufficient space is available for the installation of the tank.  Another consideration is that the base for these huge tanks must be level and constructed to specifications as recommended by the water tank manufacturer.

Here is installation advice for JoJo Tanks’ 20000 litre vertical tanks:

We recommend that the ground is thoroughly compacted in order to make the surface flat and stable before a concrete slab is cast (use 25MPA cement).  The thickness of the slab should be at least 150mm and 100% level.  The slab should be wider than the diameter of the tank to ensure that there is no overhang.  Remember that 20000lt water tanks weigh 20 tonnes when full.

So who would possibly need such large tanks?  Factories, hospitals, schools, community centres, emergency centres, fire stations and even homeowners with enough space.  Tanks bigger than 20000 litres are available but these are usually made from steel or need to be assembled using a combination of concrete and steel.  We recommend high quality polyethylene tanks as these are cost-effective, easier to transport and install and more resistant to certain chemicals compared to steel (in the case of 20000 litre chemical tanks).
